Grumpy Wolf offers quality comics for the discerning collector!

As collectors ourselves, we know condition is important, and take pride in making sure that our copies are high-grade, and free from significant defects.

We might not be the cheapest (although to be fair: we're seldom the most expensive!) but we hope the consistent quality of our books and our service will keep you coming back for high quality comic collectables.

 

OMNIBUS EDITIONS (AND OTHER OVERSIZED HARDCOVERS)

Most of the Omnibus editions that we offer for sale are sourced to order from our distributor in the United States. As a result, it can take up to two weeks for the books to arrive with us. Given that they're competitively priced, this makes our service a good option if you're looking to save money, but if you're looking for a copy to read this weekend, then we'd recommend using another independent store like Reed Comics that hold copies in stock.

We do usually have a few Omnibus books in stock, which can be found in the "In stock" section; these will dispatch within 2 business days from the order being placed.

Our Omnibus editions are usually in great condition - if we receive copies from the distributor that are obviously damaged in some way, then we will request replacements - but if any of the In Stock copies being offered have obvious dents, etc. then we will have highlighted this in the listing.

We're often asked about how we ship Omnibus editions. We typically receive them in medium-parcel-size cardboard boxes, packaged with thick crepe paper. We remove the books from the packaging and inspect them, to make sure they are in good condition, with no obvious dents or bends. Having confirmed that, we seal them in bubble-wrap envelopes, and repackage in the original box, before sending on to the customer.

The process is similar for other oversized editions (e.g. Artists Editions) except they are usually supplied in boxes that fit snugly and don't have room for any additional packaging or bubble wrap, so those elements are omitted!

 

INDIVIDUAL COMICS

If you want to place a regular monthly comic order with us, we're happy to manage pull-lists, and are open to taking orders for ratio incentives together with all the qualifying issues pre-FOC.

All raw comics will ship bagged and boarded, in 9.4 condition or better. Most copies will be better, but we can't guarantee 9.8s - sadly not all modern comics are produced to that quality (due to weak paper stock, printing issues, casual handling during shipping, etc.) and most of the copies we receive from the distributor range between 9.4 and 9.8.

If the back issue copies that we're offering for sale are of a lower grade than 9.4, that will be clearly specified in the product listing, both in the item title and in the description.

If you feel that your books have arrived in a worse condition than you were expecting, please get in touch, and we will do what we can to make the situation right.

If you're an international buyer, get in touch and we can talk about how we can make the shipping costs make a bit more sense for you - we're happy to offer modest discounts on large purchases to make it a bit easier! Shipping to Europe and North America has been enabled; packages will ship using tracked services, with an appropriate level of insurance to cover loss or damage in transit. We will ship to other destinations, but shipping costs will need to be calculated manually, so please get in touch if you are looking to purchase from a location that isn't currently enabled.

For those who are curious about the store's name, the original Grumpy Wolf is my dog Winter, who is essentially a small Husky.

He's not actually all that grumpy, except when his regular comic order is delayed in shipping, and then he gets exceptionally cross...
